Purpose . The aim is to introduce Logistics 5.0 and present a framework that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies to support sustainable logistics. The paper aims to help academics explore elements that could enrich the framework and its applications, especially considering new developments in artificial intelligence (such as generative AI and advanced algorithms). This chapter can help the audience use artificial intelligence effectively, efficiently, and economically.
Results . This chapter presents an integrated innovative framework. Technological platforms require appropriate processes, people, and partners. This chapter defines the structure and support of digital collaboration with the external environment to achieve sustainable logistics.
Originality value . Several papers describe applications of artificial intelligence to specific aspects of logistics. This chapter presents a framework for an integrated approach to artificial intelligence for logistics management and operations. The innovative approach is to apply AI in combination with other technologies. Combining and integrating technologies brings more benefits than any single technology, especially in promoting sustainability.
